The best Sunday brunch I’ve had in a long time was at the Markthallen am Gleisdreieck. The combination of market stalls, international foods, and live swing music just made me happy.
The market halls are big, but not unmanageably so. One hall is full of art, artisan, and antique stalls. The other is full of delicious things: traditional brunch foods, African stews, German cakes, fresh pomegranate juice, and much more. There are plenty of tables set up in front of a stage where a charming swing band entertained us for hours.
The market isn’t on every Sunday, so be sure to check the website before you go. Looks like the next ones are in March.
_sigh_ is there anything at all like this in Munich? Most other cities have great markets on Sundays, providing a nice opportunity for a family outing / lunch…
If there is, I haven’t found it yet. Munich is all about the Weißwurst Frühstück, it seems.
There is something that would make a good outing in Munich this weekend, though: open artists’ studios at the Wiede Fabrik. http://www.wiede-fabrik.de/
Well that is absolutely my kind of travel… I don’t know why some traveler get so extravagant aiming with so much luxuries while traveling. Simple travel can really be satisfying, right? It is just a matter of attitude.
