Greetings from Yellowstone

Where in the world am I today? It’s getting hard to keep track… I’m several blog posts behind, but I figured I’d share a couple photos from the last couple days in Yellowstone National Park (that’s in Montana and Wyoming, just in case you were wondering).

It has been crazy freaky cold, but we’re having a good time. We saw all kinds of wild animals (elk, wolves, bison, coyotes, deer, bighorn sheep, and an elk-like species I have dubbed ‘white butts’) and walked around the steaming hot springs.

More soon!

  1. Greetings from Livingston MT!!!!! I can’t believe you are here!!

Ok the Elk like critters with the white butts are probably Mule Deer, they could be Pronghorned Antelope.

If you are still around go to Cooke City for sights and lunch, oh yeah take your time in the Lamar Valley you have a good chance at seeing Wolves!!

  2. p.s.
Heck if you want a guide my wife and I could show you around the Park or surrounding area!

I found your blog while I visiting my wife in Germany last winter while she was studying in Halle an der Saale.

    Enjoy Montana!!

    Chris

  3. Hi Chris – Small world! Thanks for your kind offer. We had a fabulous time in Yellowstone, and drove through to Cook City one day (had lunch with the snowmobilers). We saw many wolves on the way.

I’m guessing your wife went to Bozeman, since they have an exchange program with Halle (I usually got to know the exchange students when I was teaching there, and I helped choose the German students who came to study here). What did you (and she) think of Halle?

We spent yesterday in Bozeman visiting a friend. Adorable town! Today we’re in Billings, and tomorrow I think we’re headed to Red Lodge to do some skiing. I’m definitely having a blast in Montana. 🙂

  4. Thanks you guys for the well wishes and compliments on the photos. It’s one of those places that makes it easy to take good photos – so gorgeous! There are a couple extra pics on my Flickr, if you’re interested (link in sidebar).

Tanya, I totally know what you mean. The Swiss Alps are so beautiful it makes me forget that any other beautiful places exist. But they do! 🙂

  5. Beautiful photos. I visited Yellowstone during the beginning of summer but I’d heard it was stunning during the winter and now you’ve shown me why.
